How to Clean DVD Scratches

DVD scratches can make your files skip or stutter. Keeping your DVD free from scratches will certainly prolong its life and function at its best. There are available natural abrasive at home that can fix DVD scratch.

The things that you will need are window cleaner or Windex, microfiber towel, toothpaste, and water.

Here are the instructions in fixing DVD scratch:

  • Hold your DVD upright to a bright lamp to check for scratch marks on the surface.
  • Wipe your DVD with a microfiber towel to remove smudges.
  • Use a window cleaner in removing dirt particles. Dampen a soft cotton cloth with Windex and gently wipe it on the surface of your DVD starting from the center working all the way through the edges.
  • Allow the window cleaner solvent to air dry. Window cleaner is ideal as it evaporates into the air without the necessity of wiping it again.
  • After making sure that your DVD has dried, squeeze you white toothpaste into the surface of the DVD. Use your fingertips in spreading the toothpaste.
  • Allow the toothpaste to sit for few minutes.
  • Remove your natural abrasive with the use of your fingertips. Remove as much toothpaste as possible.
  • Wipe the residue with a microfiber towel.
  • You can add few drops of water to aid in the removal of toothpaste around the DVD surface.
  • Allow your DVD to completely dry overnight.

Avoid using strong cleaning solution in removing DVD scratch as this can permanently damage your DVD. If you are unsure of the cleaning procedure, you can buy a DVD cleaning kit in fixing DVD scratch.
