How to Clean Earbuds

Earbud headphones can easily become dirty as it fits into your ear canal. It can trap ear wax making your earbuds grimy and smelly. Proper cleaning is important so as to keep the good quality of your earbuds.

Here are the instructions in keeping your earbuds clean:

  • Remove your earbuds from an mp3 player or iPod.
  • Get a small cup and add equal amounts of warm water and isopropyl alcohol. Stir the solution properly.
  • Use a cotton swab and moisten it with your alcohol solution. Squeeze out excess solution.
  • Scrub your earbuds with your moistened cotton swab. Make certain to apply gentle pressure on the surface of the earbuds.
  • For stubborn dirt particles, you can scrub your earbuds with a soft bristle brush. You can also use a toothpick in getting debris out from the corners and crevices of your earbuds.
  • Use a microfiber towel in wiping your earbuds.
  • Wipe away liquid residue. You can also use a dry cotton swab in keeping your earbuds dry.
  • Allow your earbuds to completely dry for several hours before using it.

Make certain to remove excess liquid as excess cleaning solution can damage your earbuds. For greasy earbuds, use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe away oily substances.
