How to Clean Atlas Pasta Machine

Owning an Atlas Pasta maker Machine can give you troubles when it comes to maintenance and cleaning care especially if you do not have the expertise yet in using and manipulating the machine. This equipment is just like any other kitchen appliance you own that needs care and regular maintenance. Some owners even hire a professional to clean their pasta maker but that is not a practical thing to do. If you try to clean it by yourself, of course, it would be very hard at first but once you are already used to it, it would be a lot easier for you. Before cleaning it, you should determine first the intensity of dirt and discoloration on your machine so you would know what methods to use to clean it or whether or not you need to uninstall first the parts of the machine before cleaning it.

Here are some techniques and method you can follow to clean your Atlas Pasta Machine:

    1. If you notice that the machine has oily smirches of grease on the edges of the clay sheet, then you only need to do simple steps to clean it. The grease forming along your pasta maker is because of the lubricants used to reduce the friction between the metal parts of the pasta maker to make sure that they will work very smoothly. Sometimes there is a tendency for the machine to have improper lubrication, forming the oddly looking grease on your machine. It can even move from the surfaces up to the scrapers, rollers and to the clay, and if this happened, it would be more difficult to clean it.

However, grease is very easy to remove compare with the other discoloration dilemmas. You can just clean it by having a paper towel along the edges of the rollers so while you are rotating the machine with a crank, the towel can absorb the excessive lubricant. To check if the grease is gone, try to pass some scrap clay through the pasta maker.

    2. Another discoloration problem you can notice with your Atlas pasta maker is that several areas on your clay sheet have bits of clay forming in different colors. This happens because there are clays that amass over the time you use the machine. It forms in between the scrapers and the rollers. It can be more difficult if the clay that formed started to harden too much because it will be more difficult to scrape it off.

When you try to pass a clay sheet through your pasta maker, old specks of clay that formed will try to stick on the passing clay sheet to break away from the scraper. It does not look good when this happens on your clay sheet. To remove this problem, you need to detach first the scrapers. After doing it, use a clean paper towel and wipe out all the clay residue that formed on it. You can remove it easily if the clay is still soft but if you feel that it is already hard, soak mineral oil into the clay, and wait until the clay softens.

If you see that there is dirt and grease starting to form on your pasta maker, you should make immediate cleaning actions about it so that you can easily get rid of the discoloration problems and be certain that there would not be a chance that the situation will get worse.
