How to Clean a Barbecue Grill

Cleaning is always a necessity after cooking especially when using barbecue grill. Proper cleaning does not only make your cooking equipment tidy but also prevent food contamination.

The things that you will need in cleaning barbecue grill are warm water, sponge or wire brush, rubber gloves, liquid dishwashing soap, small container or pot or small basin and hose.

Here are the steps in cleaning a barbecue grill:

  • Gather the necessary equipments. Make sure that the grill is already cool. Remove any remaining charcoal and ashes.
  • Put on your rubber gloves and scrub the barbecue grill with your wire brush. Remove all soiled food that got stuck inside the grill.
  • If there are still dirt present, get a small basin, pot or small container. Pour in warm water and add liquid soap. Stir the soapy solution properly. This will serve your cleaning solution to loosen up dirt.
  • Moisten your sponge with the cleaning solution. Scrub the entire grill. You can also use a soft brush in scrubbing the grill.
  • Include other parts of the grill like the legs and the edges.
  • Use warm water in rinsing the grill. Make sure to remove any cleaning solution left in the barbecue grill. You can also utilize a garden hose in washing the barbecue grill.
  • After making sure that the grill is totally clean, use a dry cloth and wipe the entire grill. Allow it to dry for several hours. You can expose it under the sun to kill presence of bacteria naturally.
  • If the grill has dried already, place it back to its proper place.

You can also use cleaning solution intended for cleaning barbecue grill. Pay particular attention to the kind of solution used. Make sure it is ammonia free and wont damage your barbecue grill. Another tip is to use rub an olive oil along the surface of the grill before cooking. This facilitates easy removal of soiled food. It is more ideal to clean the grill every after use. You can merely use wire brush to remove dirt particles after barbecuing.
