The things that you will need are soft brush, soft clean cloth, petroleum jelly, and magnetic dust cloth.

Below are the simple steps in cleaning your books:

  • Start the cleaning process at the outer covering of the book. Get a soft brush and remove any dirt or dust present. Also, do not forget to include the back portion of the book.
  • If your book has a leather cover, get a soft cotton cloth and dampen it with moderate amount of petroleum jelly. Wipe it carefully to instantly achieve the glossy appearance of the book.
  • If the outer cover has greasy marks, simply wipe it with a dry cotton cloth. Make sure the oily substance is completely removed.
  • If the cover has pencil marks, just erase the area gently so as not to damage the book. However, if it has ink marks, make use of an eraser that is specifically designed to erase ink marks from pens. Rub it gently into the area.
  • If the cover has dirty price tags, you can use an adhesive cleaner to help facilitate easy removal of price tags. Make sure to use few drops with a soft cloth.
  • To clean the inner portion of the book, you can use soft brush to remove dust particles. You can also purchase a magnetic dust cloth. This is more efficient to use.
  • After cleaning the book, make sure that your book shelves are also clean so that the books won’t get dirty again.

Books still play a crucial role why we’ve come this far now. It may be the traditional method of learning but still it is helpful. Avoid using a cleaning cloth with chemicals. The presence of this chemical can permanently damage your book as well as your shelves. Using a soft brush or a cloth is more convenient, inexpensive and safer to use.
