The things that you will need are soft bristle brush, cotton cloth, bleach and spray bottle.

  • Gather all the needed materials. You can start by removing the BP cuff. Some BP cuffs can be detached. Scrub the cuff using a soft bristle brush. You can also use a cloth in wiping dust particles.
  • Get your empty spray and fill it with water. Add bleach and mix thoroughly or shake the bottle spray.
  • For a thorough cleaning, spray adequate amount of bleach solution into the BP cuff. You can also make use of a soft cotton cloth dip into the bleach solution. Press the cotton cloth so as not to make the cloth too wet.
  • Carefully scrub the BP cuff and pay particular attention to the part where you will insert the wrist. Scrub the edges as well as the outer covering of the blood pressure cuff.
  • Get clean water and another clean cloth. Dip the clean cloth into the water and wipe the BP cuff again to remove the bleach.
  • Place the blood pressure cuff in a clean table and allow it to dry.
  • After making sure that the BP cuff is totally dry, connect it back to the BP tubing and now your BP apparatus is ready to use.

You can also wash the BP cuff using a liquid detergent or liquid soap with water. Mild cleaning solution is appropriate. Regular cleaning should be implemented so as to prevent skin to skin transmissions. If you are too busy to do BP cuff cleaning, you can simply wipe dirt particles or sanitize the blood pressure cuff with cotton swab wet in an alcohol. One thing to avoid is using strong chemicals that would damage BP cuff.
