To be able to keep your camera lens in its ideal condition you should clean it regularly. Keeping your camera clean can help you save some cost for future repair services. The camera lens is one of the most important parts of a camera. A scratch in the lens can affect the quality how your camera processes photos. However, proper handling of the camera is a key element when cleaning it. You can go over your camera manual to further help you while you’re cleaning the lens.
Or follow these steps.
- Prepare the following materials. A microfiber cloth in a re-sealable plastic bag to protect them from obtaining dust or dirt when you are not using it. You can also use a lens cleaning paper, you can buy this in your local camera shop. Clean water or a lens fluid. A clean brush with soft and small bristles.
- Opens the lens cover of the camera.
- Hold your lens facing the ground while softly blowing on it to release some dirt particles. If a visible residue is still present, you can use a brush to get rid of it. But remember, slowly brush the lenses.
- You may now use a microfiber cloth. Put a small amount of lens fluid for cleaning. Gently remove the smudges or dirt from the lenses, and then wipe your lens in a circular motion. Start from the center and move out to the sides.
- Let the lens dry on its own.
- After cleaning, remember not to touch the camera lens.
- Attach the lens cover back into place.
If you’re traveling with your camera and you suddenly need to clean your lens, you can do a short clean method with the lens.
You can follow the steps below.
- Opens the lens cover of the camera.
- Blow onto lens to get rid of the dust particles. Do not just use any type of cloth, not even your fingers to clean the lenses. Find a soft cloth. Also, make sure that it is clean to avoid any further introduction of dirt into your lenses.
- Use a soft clean cloth, and then wipe your lens in a circular motion. Start from the center and move out to the sides.
- Dry the lens with a cloth.
- After cleaning, remember not to touch the camera lens.
- Attach the lens cover back into its place.
Always keep your camera in a camera bag. When you are just taking a road trip or traveling long distance, always keep the camera in its case. This way, you can protect you camera from unwanted damage or from possible dust particles that can get lodged into the camera.
