How to Clean a CPU Fan Laptop

Have you been hearing an annoying noise whenever you use your laptop? Well, that is probably coming from the CPU fan of your laptop. If you are hearing this kind of noise, there is only one meaning for that. You have to clean your laptop fan! Yes, the noise you hear inside your laptop is telling you that it is having a hard time to ventilate and make your laptop cooler because of the dusts, hair and dirt formed in it. If your fan is dusty and dirty, chances are, it will not work properly, it will cause the unit to overheat, and it can burn and destroy the motherboard and the processor of the laptop. These inner computer parts are two of the most important parts of your laptop and once destroyed, your laptop will no longer work. Therefore, to avoid these situations, the best thing to do is to make sure that the CPU fan of your laptop is always clean. You should realize that you have to open up your laptop before you can clean the fan and the other internal parts. It might be difficult at first, so you really have to be cautious and careful when you start unscrewing your laptop.

Here are the simple procedures to clean your laptop fan:

  1. Unplug your laptop first, remove the battery and make sure that no electric flow is currently going on within the laptop to avoid electrical accidents.
  2. Open up your laptop by removing the screws first. Once you remove it, you will already see the laptop fan inside the laptop.
  3. Before touching an internal components from your laptop, make sure to remove or discharge the electricity coming from your body first.
  4. Remove the buildup of the dusts that you see in the fan. If you can do it using your hands, do it carefully. You can also swab the dusts using q-tips r cotton swabs. Some people would choose to detach first the fan from the laptop so they can clean it better. The CPU fan has four screws on it. Usually, there are wires connecting the fan and the motherboard and you can only detach it if you choose to unplug them completely.
  5. Clean the blades of the fan by swabbing q-tips on it or using compressed air to blow away the dusts.
  6. The heatsink or the metal base found under the laptop fan will also be full of dusts and cleaning the blades and the fan alone will not be effective if you leave the heatsink dusty. You can blow the dusts from the heatsink using the compressed or canned air.
  7. Once the CPU laptop fan and all its parts and attached components are clean, you can already put back the laptop casing or cover. However, before doing that, make sure that you also clean the laptop casing so the vents and the crevices will be dust-free as well.

Most computer owners give low maintenance priority on the inner components of the laptop, but this should not be the case. A dust-free and clean external appearance of your laptop will be useless if your laptop is not working properly because the internal parts are dusty and dirty.
