How to Clean a Dust from a Laptop

A laptop has several uses but can easily accumulate foreign matter, dirt and smudges. Removing dust particles from your laptop is an easy process but proper choice of cleaning solution is crucial. Maintaining a clean laptop is inexpensive and the cleaning tools are available at home.

The things that you will need are isopropyl alcohol, microfiber cloth or lint free cloth or soft cotton cloth, small cup, water, feather duster or soft nylon brush.

Here are the important instructions in cleaning dust from a laptop:

  • Turn off your laptop and unplug electrical connection. Allow the laptop to cool down first before cleaning.
  • Get a small cup and pour in equal amounts of alcohol and water. Stir the solution properly. This will serve as your cleaning solution for laptop.
  • Use a lint free cloth and moisten it with your cleaning solution. Remove excess water.
  • Close your laptop and gently wipe the laptop cover first.
  • Open you laptop to view the screen and gently scrub the area in a forward and backward stroke. Make certain to remove any smudges and dirt particles. Include wiping the edges of your laptop screen.
  • Wipe your laptop with a dry lint free cloth. Wipe away liquid residue and allow the screen to air dry.
  • After cleaning the screen, you can now proceed on the keyboard.
  • Use a feather duster or a soft nylon brush. Brush off any dust particles on the keyboard. Gently brush USB ports, jacks, card readers and serial ports.
  • Open your laptop’s CD or DVD drive use a dry microfiber cloth in wiping away dust particles.
  • You can also include cleaning your laptop fan by wiping it with a lint free cloth.

In order to maintain a dust free laptop, wipe it with a microfiber cloth or a cotton cloth every after use. Dust particles usually settle in between keys. Make sure to brush your keyboard with a soft nylon brush at least once a week. Avoid using strong cleaning agent in cleaning your laptop screen as this can permanently damage your screen.
