How to Clean DVD lens

DVD lens can easily accumulate dust particles producing errors in disc reading. It is important to keep your DVD lens dust free so as to prolong its life and function at its best. Cleaning your DVD lens is inexpensive and the cleaning solutions are easily found at home.

The things that you will need are isopropyl alcohol, water, screw driver, soft cotton cloth and microfiber towel. Here are the important steps in cleaning your DVD lens:

• Turn off your DVD player. Make sure to remove any electrical connections.
• Unscrew your player using a screw driver to view your DVD lens. Place the screws in a safe place.
• For manual DVD cleaning, you can use equal parts of isopropyl alcohol and water. Mix the solution together in a glass bowl.
• Get your soft cotton cloth and moisten it with your cleaning solution.
• Wipe your DVD lens using a soft cotton cloth. Dip your cotton cloth into your cleaning solution and squeeze out to remove excess water.
• Gently wipe the surface of your DVD lens.
• Allow your alcohol solution to air dry.
• Leave your DVD lens open for several minutes to completely dry.
• Wipe your DVD lens again with a microfiber cloth.
• Close the disc tray and tighten the screws back.

Avoid using harsh cleaning solution as this can permanently damage your DVD lens. You can also purchase a DVD cleaning kit. A DVD cleaning kit is efficient to use. Simply read the instructions of your cleaning kit and you will achieve a clean DVD lens in less time and less effort.
