In our house we have a simple rule that keeps the majority of dirt outside where it belongs. We have a place just outside our back door where we slip off our outside shoes and slip on our inside shoes. Either that or we enter our home barefoot! Hey, if it is good enough for the Japanese it is good enough for us!
